I Won An iPad And Claimed My Prize Wearing Hosiery

Be sure to read about the the non-hosiery details first.

When I went down to claim my prize, people could see that I was wearing grey opaque hosiery, so I think that I left a small impression on them. I am disappointed that I did not wear more formal clothing, to impress the executives who hosted the show.

Overall, I think that it went well.

Press Release: Introducing HUE’s "latest" Guest Designer Collection [Feb. 3, 2009]

Here is a Hue press release that I found, and I believe it is a little interesting. Since I want to start publishing press releases, I believed that this would be a good start.

It is from Feb. 3, 2009, which makes it old enough that we might have seen it and forgot about it. I learned a bit from it, anyways.

Articles: "White stockings are in, my eyes hurt..."

I like white hosiery, so I am glad to read this: White stockings are in, my eyes hurt.... Well, I am not glad to read about her eyes hurting, though. :^D

There is a nice photo.

Scientist Believes That Compression Hosiery Does Not Work And That It Causes Problems

An article, Stockings fail to stop blood clots, says that compression stockings do not work, and they cause problems.

I think that I disagree with the scientist, because there was no mention of a control group or random samplings. The failure of the hosiery to help the patients might be a reflection of the patients, and their problems, not the hosiery. The hosiery might have worked just fine.

Sizing Information For Hosiery At Sears And The Bay

I went to downtown Vancouver, and took a look at the sizing charts of most of the brands at Sears and The Bay.

Hanes No Longer Available At Sears Or The Bay

I just took a look at The Bay, and Sears, on Sunday, Sep. 19, 2010, and did not see any Hanes hosiery. It seems that they are no longer available in Canada. I asked a staff member at The Bay, and she said that they do not sell them anymore, and that she did not know why.

Wonder Bra Hosiery Still Available At Sears, But No Longer Available At The Bay

I spoke to a staff member at The Bay, and she said that they stopped selling Wonder Bra. I suspect that they wanted to make more room for Hue. They seem to have more Hue products.

The Bay's Hosiery Department Moved

The Bay, in downtown Vancouver, moved the hosiery department to the fourth floor, from the first floor.

I think that that is too bad, because we now have to travel so far.

ESL Student's Response

I was having a good session with my student, so I decided to ask her about my hosiery. It seems that she has no problems with guys wearing hosiery in Canada. She only thinks that it is inappropriate in Korea. I asked her if it seemed gay. She said, "No. No!". So there you have have it. For every person that seems to have a problem, there are a million that do not.

Volunteering: Fringe Fest Volunteer Appreciation Party

The Fringe Festival really took good care of their volunteers. I appreciate the way that they offered refreshments, and offered a nice party at the end of it all. This implies, to me, that they are not recruiting volunteers just to save money. Read on, to find out how the night went.

Announcement: Sent Email To Several Companies, Requesting Samples And Access

I sent an email to various companies, asking them for samples so that I could write product reviews. I also requested access to the press section of the Wolford site. I doubt that they'll want to give me any privileges, but I thought that I should try. I figure that if I did not get any results, then I could still try again, another day.

On The Way To Mending Broken Relationships

In an earlier blog entry, I said that I would try to mend a broken relationship with the next day. I completely forgot about the next day part. I finally followed up on it, on Sunday. I sent him a message via Flickr, asking him for forgiveness.

He ended up replying, on Monday, and said that he did not have a problem with what I said. So, we are on good terms.

I must admit that this experience was kind of scary, because I felt that bad things can always happen when trying to mend relationships.

Volunteering: Business Expo

I decided to wear pants.

During the day, I thought about what she would have permitted and not permitted. I wondered if she would have let me wear shorts during the day, but not in the evening, or if she would not have let me wear shorts at all during the day and evening. I want to follow up on it. I will send her an email, and I will get back to you. I think that it would be an interesting opportunity for us to be able to wear them to expos and conventions.

An unusual thing did happen during the morning. 1 girl helped me to find a volunteer shirt. She said that I should try the women's medium size, instead of the men's because the fit would be better, and also because the men's small were no longer available. I declined to wear it, because the difference would be obvious, and I did not want to take that chance. I wonder why she thought that I would be open to the idea of wearing a woman's shirt. I suspect that it had something to do with her seeing me during the previous night's orientation, when I wore hosiery and shorts. She was sitting just a seat or 2 away.

Volunteering: Fringe Fest Performance

It went quite well. I finally got to wear a pair of mostly opaque hosiery [i.e. tights], that I had been waiting for some time to try, but I was a bit disappointed, because it was actually dark blue, not black. I thought that it was black. I'll have to check the packaging to see if the label was misprinted.

That being said, the experience was good overall. I noticed a lot of women wearing hosiery yesterday. I even got to volunteer along side of 1 of them.

I had to wear a yellow t-shirt. In the near future, I will try to post a photo.

In the near future, I would like to post a hosiery review of this new pair of hosiery. I highly recommend that you buy a pair.

Volunteering: Talked To ESL Student About Hosiery On Monday

Yesterday, I was speaking with a student to help her practice her conversation English. During that time, she mentioned shopping. So, I slowly turned the conversation towards men in hosiery. I was the first guy wearing it, that she ever saw. We never really talked about why I wanted to wear it. She seemed to explain that she did not really care about whether or not guys would wear it, even though she felt that guys should not wear it.

On Tuesday late afternoon, I will volunteer again at a performance, as a ticket seller. This time, I intend to try to wear beige shorts and white opaque hosiery. I will let you know what happens on Wednesday.

Check back on Friday, when I post a blog entry about my volunteer experience with a business expo. I intend wear a business appropriate outfit with hosiery.

Volunteering: Performance

I went out again on Sunday night, to volunteer with the Fringe. This time, I went without hosiery and without shorts.

I wish that I would have worn something nice, but 1 of the things that stopped me from doing it, was the rainy weather. I think that it would have made me look a bit weird to wear hosiery on a very rainy day.

It is so hard to measure reactions without a proper survey. Perhaps I should take a photo of myself, and then get some public feedback. With 1 group of random people, I could ask for feedback on a guy who is trying to prove a point despite the weather, and with another group of random people, I could ask for feedback on just a guy. In other words, I would try to measure their reactions to a person with a positive story, and their reactions to a person without a story.

Sheer Vs. Opaque

Just recently, I wore sheer hosiery with my ugly clothing. I felt a little weird. Sometimes the outfit is to blame, and not the hosiery, but I cannot help but wonder if it is actually the sheer hosiery. After all, we are not going to always have days where we want to wear awesome clothing. Sometimes we really have to put on whatever is clean and go with it.

Another thing to consider is that women typically wear sheer clothing. This means that sheer hosiery is much more feminine than opaque hosiery. If you look at Shakespearean clothing, then you will notice that many/all of the styles are opaque. If you look at female clothing, throughout the centuries, sheer clothing tended be worn by women.

Does this mean that we are not able to wear sheer clothing? We could wear it, but it will take a lot more work.

We need to take an unbiased look at styles of clothing that are not in the mainstream. Take turbans, for instance. They have been around for a while. People continue to wear them boldly, just as we wear hosiery boldly. Somehow, people still do not want to wear either.

I think that it will be a lot longer, before we ever break into the mainstream.

HotOrNot Score Update

I'm impressed to see my HotOrNot score. I'm not trying to brag. It is just that usually, I get about 6 or less after a lot of people have rated me.

Maybe this news, plus the previous blog entry, is a sign that people are warming up to the idea of men in shorts and hosiery.

Announcement: Removed 43 Things From Find-Me Page

Those crazy 43-Things people just suspended my account without even giving me notice, so I removed the link from the find-me page, until further notice. I sent them a message, asking for more information. I will keep you updated on the issue.

I suspected that it might have something to do with a comment that I made about not needing to cross dress in order to wear hosiery. That probably didn't go over well with the cross dressing community.

Reply: The Wing Girls

On Sep. 2, the Wing Girls replied to my message. Read the remainder of the blog entry for their reply.

Volunteering: Performance

Last Wednesday, I volunteered at a performance, as a greeter. I accepted the tickets, when the audience members went in.

It was interesting, because before the show, a fellow asked me if I was wearing stockings. I was wearing black day sheers. I told him that I was. Eventually, he asked me about it, and I explained that I was trying to raise awareness about straight guys, hosiery, prescription hosiery, etc. I doubt that he was convinced to wear them, but he never said anything negative or positive. It was hard to read him. I was too busy looking around. I wonder if he felt offended. In fact, he was looking around also. It was busy enough that we were probably both distracted.

1 interesting question that he asked was about whether or not there are any men's sizes. That surprised me, because I didn't expect it to occur to him.

We can consider 1 more guy to be informed.

Blog Recommendation: SheerGeek

I noticed a lot of new traffic has been coming my way, and 1 of the sources is SheerGeek's blog. I took a look, and it was good. He has a lot of product news.

As I went through his blog, I was just thought up an idea. If we want to write about products, then perhaps we could submit the review to his blog, to keep everything in 1 central location. To give ourselves some traffic, we could place a link in the writing to our own blogs. To ensure that our readers still recognize that we are producing that content, we could announce the new blog entry by writing a short blog entry, directing the readers to the full length blog entry. SheerGeek, what do you think?
